This weekend was the official kick off of the West Virginia portion of the summer. Sunday was spent getting to know each other and settling in to our new home at The Way in Mullens. We wrapped up the evening with a commissioning service. We are still organizing everything, so should be up and running with daily posts soon!

PVs in West Virginia
Saturday is the official kick off of the PV experience in West Virginia. We will be staying in a new place, the Bailyesville Community Center, and are ready for new adventures! The plan is to post pretty much daily throughout our time in West Virginia, so please check back and be a part of the summer with us.

Plant with Passion
The month of May was “Plant with Passion” month in Atchison, KS. Friends and neighbors were invited to take part in a raffle with the prizes being bags of soybeans or cash equivalent, donated by Scott Chartier at NK Seed. The raffle raised a whopping $2,400 for the PVs!!! The first place prize winner was David Miller and the second place winner was David Schletzbaum. Thank you to Dan and Lucy for organizing the wonderful event!!!

Different Ways, Same Goals
When PVs put their heads together and come up with an idea to raise funds to help keep the PV Volunteers going, only good has happened. So far this year, there have been three very different events to raise money and all three have been very successful. A potluck in Seattle raised $625, two wine parities in New Jersey raised over $3,000, and a garage sale in Florida raised over $400. Not only did these events raise money for the PVs, but participants were able to hear more about who the PVs are and what we do.
We share this because we need to get more PVs to host events such as these to help us keep the program afloat. Let us know if you are already planning an event so we can put it on our site, or if you would like some help in planning and activity. Any people involved in past events would be more than happy to share their wisdom with you.
