We are happy to welcome back to Wyoming County, WV, Northern Illinois University Newman Center back for there 12th spring break service trip.  All 16 participants (we think that is a record!) arrived safely last night around 11:00.  Today started off with Mass at Holy Cross and then a wonderful day of community bonding.  The NIU crew arrived later in the day at the PV house for an evening a food, fellowship, orientation and commissioning.  We were joined for the evening by Arnie and Kathy, who generously shared their wisdom and insights about the area with the students.  The evening closed with the traditional PV Commissioning Service, annointed the volunteers for their service that lies ahead.

Big day tomorrow…Early Head Start, painting at the Food Bank and starting a big home repair project that will last until well into the summer.

Tomorrow is the big day…we hit the road for a month with two service trips to West Virginia and the Midwest Reunion in between.  We are looking forward to reconnecting with everyone!  Look forward to frequent updates and pictures from us from the road.

Things have been pretty quiet here as we approach the end of February.  March, as always will be a crazy busy month with two service trips West Virginia and the Midwest Reunion in Kansas in between, so the calm is much appreciated. This morning we renewed our annual membership with CNVS (Catholic Network of Volunteer Service).  Part of renewing the membership is to report statistics on our volunteers.  Although a long and tedious process, I always enjoy this as it gives me a chance to think of you each, as I go through the directory person by person.  It reminds me of how lucky we are to have each and everyone of you so dedicated to the mission of the PVs and to the people of West Virginia and Bedford Stuyvesant.  THANK YOU!!!
