Food for Thought Friday, June 2nd

No kind action ever stops with itself. One kind action leads to another. Good example is followed. A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions and the roots spring up and make new trees. The greatest work that kindness does to other is that it makes them kind themselves.

9th Annual Live with Passion

BE  A PART OF IT…The 9th Annual Live with Passion kicks off today, June 1st. The Live with Passion is the PV Volunteers big fundraiser each year. To help with the fundraising efforts this year, we have launched a Live with Passion crowd-funding campaign which you can find here: https://chuffed.org/project/pvs-live-with-passion.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to keep the PV Volunteers going past this summer’s program in West Virginia. We have been around for 44 years helping those struggling in our country, and we would like to continue our mission. You can donate as an individual or in support of a volunteer organized event. Any little bit helps!

Food For Thought Friday, May 5th

A way has to be found to enable everyone to benefit from the fruits of the earth, and not simply to close the gap between the affluent and those who must be satisfied with the crumbs falling from the table, but above all to satisfy the demands of justice, fairness and respect for every human being.

WestSide Baby

On Friday, volunteers returned WestSide Baby for a day of service. WestSide Baby was one of the first organizations the PVs worked with in Seattle and have continued work with them each spring. WestSide Baby is a nonprofit organization that collects previously owned items for children and babies and distributes them free of charge to King County families in need. In years past, the PVs have helped with their car seat recycling program, sorting clothes, unloading diapers, organizing and even painting a room. This year we were tasked with filling orders that partner agencies requested. We would be give a child’s name, age and size and go around the warehouse and pull needed items for the child. This included clothes, diapers, car seats, toys and books. Once the order was completed it was placed on a shelf ready for pick up. We worked in pairs and by the time we were ready to go, we were able to fill orders for more than 25 different kids that live in King County. We all had a great time and were once again impressed with all the wonderful work WestSide Baby does to help children in need.
